The Minderoo Foundation is a modern philanthropic organisation, founded by Andrew and Nicola Forrest in 2001. One of the philanthropic endeavours of the organisation is the Exmouth Research Lab which is a marine research facility on the Ningaloo Reef. Thermal Engineering, were engaged through the design company to develop a chiller that was critical to maintain the water temperature of the experiments within a tight dead band as well as have backup in the case of equipment failure.
A CA150 Chiller from Fluid Chillers Australia was deployed for this application with duty/standby pumping configuration and pneumatic three-way valve for high precision temperature control. With Modbus RTU monitoring and remote pump control the client has integrated back into their BEMS for added assurances of chiller performance.
